About the Winery:

“First things first. Get the Champagne.”

Sir Winston Churchill

Pol Roger was a humble son of a notary who was forced into business when his father became too ill to continue working. As his notary business grew, he decided to pursue his true passion—Champagne production. Over the course of thirty years, Pol Roger built and expanded his own Champagne house; by the time his sons Maurice and George took over, the firm was equipped to weather the storms of what seemed like unending disasters—a cellar collapse, World War I, American Prohibition, the Great Depression, and World War II.

The Second World War brought Champagne Pol Roger its most famous and unwavering client and namesake of its flagship wine, Sir Winston Churchill. The house holds a royal warrant to purvey Champagne to the House of Windsor, and has the honor of being the Champagne served at the royal weddings.

As an example of Pol Roger’s tireless focus on quality, even their entry-level non-vintage wines are comprised mostly of wines from that year (75% to be exact) and they are aged for four years in their cellars (well exceeding the minimum legal aging standards for even vintage Champagne, which is three years in the cellar).
